One of the most popular Retro+ colorways of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature model, the Air Jordan 5 “Laney” will make a triumphant return this year as part of Jordan Brand’s highly esteemed holiday collection. Originally released on May 10th, 2000, the Jordan 5 “Laney”, nicknamed after Emsley A. Laney High School that MJ attended as a teen, features a White/Varsity Royal-Varsity Maize-Black color scheme inspired by the school’s official colors. Jordan fanatics familiar with the original pair that released 13-years-ago are sure to notice something different about the new pair. Setting it apart from the OG model, the 2013 version of the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Laney” has a black Jumpman on the heel as opposed to royal on the original. It’s a minor difference, but a noticeable one at that. As far as a release date goes, according to Kixinthecity, who claims to have a trusted source with knowledge of Jordan Brand’s plans, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Laney” is scheduled to release on November 2nd, 2013. We’ll keep you posted on whether or not that date holds any weight. Until then, check out some photos of the sneaker below.
